Note: The understanding through multiple sources is that returning all-state Lucas Vogt of BRLD is not playing football this year so he's removed from the initial listing
Does Oakland-Craig have a wealth of talent or what? With that amazing group of seniors, they have QB Grady Gatewood, sophomore Grant Seagran and incoming future standout JT Brands who might be good enough to get in the mix this year on the Knights line.
Better not count Ord out as the Chants move from C1 to C2. This Chants team got to the state finals two years ago in C1 and this is a deep and talented senior class with 6-7 all state caliber players and plenty of depth. Is there a stronger pound-for-pound player in this class than Tommy Stevens? Maybe Joe Hinrichs of Sutton, who I’m pretty sure is the toughest kid in the state.
It’s a little odd not having a Norfolk Catholic player listed but the Knights have some really young and talented players that should change that in the next several years. Sophomores Karter Kerkman, Mason Timmerman and Cade Pieper lead the sophomore group and incoming freshman Brandon Kollars could be the next great RB at NC.
An obvious rebuild job at Bishop Nuemann as the Cavaliers move down to Class C2
Maybe the most underrated player in C2 is senior Burton Brandt from Syracuse. Brandt is a great wrestler-he doesn’t play on a great football team as the Rockets were winless a year ago.
Another standout is senior Dylan Vodicka of David City who is drawing D1 interest on the wrestling mat.
Two 2019 Super State freshmen should become real stars this year-Garret Hoefs and Quran Cook. 2018 Super state 9th Koa McIntyre could play multiple positions for the Knights, including QB. He may be the fastest athlete in the state of Nebraska. Is this the year classmate Chris Pinales finally becomes a household name at RB?
Very saddened to hear the news of the passing of BRLD junior Tyler Vavra this past week. The 6-4 260 lb junior would have been one of the most dominant linemen in C2 this year.
